FALL into Number Bonds

What a great day to take the learning outside!  We used math time to practice showing different number bonds.  Students were put into WHOLE groups and then had to decide how to show the parts.  The rest of the class had to look at the group and decide what the number bond was.

I love being outside and this was a great way to practice a concept, work in groups, enjoy the weather and get some wiggles out!  Ask your student about the different number bonds they represented in the pictures below!

And the wind blows...

This week we have been observing, learning, and experimenting all about clouds. Be sure to ask your student how a cloud forms. Today we did an experiment to see how clouds form. Students saw how wind (thanks to our wind kids Henry, Camila, Roman, and Zoe). It put the learning in the hands (and mouths) of the students!

HEARTS for HEROES!

For my first Lunch with heroes, all I can say is WOW!  It was amazing to see so many heroes.  Our class was so excited to make cards that really showed their heart.  I was very proud of the effort  they put into each card. Have I said it lately, I love HCE!

EGG-xelent DAY

EGGS... if you hear your student say, "we used eggs today!" they are right!  Not the scrambled kind, the voting kind.  Today we used our active votes to check for understanding in science.  We are learning about using a thermometer to read the temperature (cold, cool, warm, and hot).  After the lesson, students used their "egg" to make an electronic vote.  They matched the thermometer to the correct word describing the temperature.  This was a great way to check for understanding and engage the kids!  They loved to have the power in their hand!

Walking Field Trip

Today we started to study about weather.  To start off the study, we did a weather walk and observed all kind of weather words.

I asked students to find out tonight what a meteorologist does.  I can't wait to see what they find out!
