What a Great American is made of?

Today we wrapped up our learning of Great Americans. I pulled all kinds of fun stuff out of the bag. Students picked different things to represent the people we studied.

Look at the masterpieces we created!

What if???

Today we put our investigation skills into action. We came up with a plan to melt an ice cube and then put our plan into action.

We learned that heat makes the solid change to a liquid. There are ways to bring more heat to make the melting happen faster...

Gianni used water to lower the temperature.

Kirby used her hands to create heat.

Luke tried stomping on it.

Stella just waited.

In the end, it was the direct sun and hands that melted it the fastest!

No air = fancy feet

The air was not working most of the morning... We had to cool off by getting our feet free!  At least we made the most of it!

Bringing MATTER TO LIFE

I could not resist...I am so excited to see some of the matter pics we did today!  THEY ARE THE CUTEST!

Today we learned that matter is anything that takes up space.  We will start looking at the different properties of matter and create a matter board later in the week.  Thank you for sending in your trash!

These were created with the app Chatter Kids.  I love how it brings oral language, content, technology, and fun all into one product.  Kids were to pick a piece of matter and bring it to life by "giving it voice" to explain why it is matter!  Check out these great examples!  More to come.
