ABC Order, makes finding things easy...

This week we have been learning that a dictionary is a reference tool.  In order to be able to access words we have to know ABC order.  Kyle said ABC order is like comparing numbers in math (first we look at the 100's place, then the 10's and finally the 1's place (GREAT CONNECTION!).  Check out the final product of our lesson!

More From the Parade

I loved seeing all the costumes... way to really show what you know about a topic!

Bringing Texas to Life A to Z

I don't know about you, but these kids did an AMAZING job showing all that they know about Texas!  I am so proud of the hard work and solid job they did today.

This was authentic learning...when kids put the pieces together, have a hand in all of the learning, and the subject goes across subjects, we are learning with out even knowing it!  My favorite part was seeing all the wonderful costumes that were made with the kids doing the work!

Getting our hands DIRTY!

Today was the day we got to plant our gardens.  We were divided into teams and each team picked a vegetable or flower to plant.  They will be responsible for recording and maintaining everything in their row.

We took some time to think about the seeds and what part of the plant it came from.  The snow pea team (Samuel, Catherine, and Cameron) learned that the pea is the seed.  The Jalapeno team (Joshua, Mackenzie, Micah, and Emma) learned that the seeds are the hot part of the jalapeno.  We all saw seed in different sizes and shapes!

We are hoping to enjoy lots of yummy vegetables and a few pretty flowers!  Happy Growing.
