Being the TEACHER...

Just wanted to share some pictures of other students learning from our hard work. Teaching others is a great way to learn deeper yourself!

Holiday Museum...A WONDERLAND of exhibits!

Today we finally got to show off our hard work to the other classes. This week, we all researched about Christmas and then worked in groups to make an exhibit to share our knowledge complete with a caption to explain their creations. I am so proud of their ingenuity and creative spirit. Our class then went to the other museums to learn about other holidays! It was a great way to let the kids be the teachers!
be sure to ask your student what they created and learned in the other rooms!

no SNOW... but still WINTER fun!

Well Frosty did not answer our request for snow, but we sure had a great day! We started the day with a special delivery from the mail. Ms. Snyder read a letter from Frosty. We cut snowflakes and wrote about why we are special. We followed it up with building snow castles, and making snow to play in! The day ended with a special viewing of Frosty the Snowman on the big screen!

We are POETS and KNOW it!

Sensory Poems are coming to life in room 6! Students started learning to use a very patterned type of writing and then moved into free form! I love to see them bring there subject to life using adjectives and prepositions... be sure to ask about what they wrote about. Check out these samples of students sharing their work so proudly!

Getting the BRAIN going!

Did you know that exercise and movement is the best way to get the brain moving! We started out time before a big math test with a little twisting and shouting! Thanks John for leading the group.

Land Form Charades!

The kids had a blast working with partners to act out their land form or body of water! It was great to connect learning with movement, creativity and cooperation! I can't wait to see them build their own land form today!

Getting a little DIRTy!

We have been learning about how rocks are used in our everyday life. In addition, we have learned that rocks are broken down into soil that also helps us in ways everyday. The kids had a great time investigating different types of soil and acting out the process of erosion!

In the kids' words!

Listen to some of the kids explain their thinking about their roller coasters. Happy to say we had no tears, but lots of modifications! What a fun morning - and great hands on learning! You can see your studnet's work on SeeSaw!

JOHNSON WORLD!

Astroworld is a thing of the past... JOHNSON WORLD is where you want to have your fun. Today we used what we knew about motion to make roller coasters. The kids worked continually for 90 minutes with all kinds of "trash" to build the perfect coaster. They were so engaged and came up with some truly wonderful designs (I think we have some future engineers in the group). Today we will test and make modifications to the coasters. Be sure to check in on SeeSaw to see what your child produced!

Say that 3 times fast! We put our skills and knowledge of magnets to work to see what would a magnet attract through. It was fun seeing the kids get so excited about their discovery!

MAGNETIC atmosphere

We did an investigation to find all things magnetic!  Later we drew the conclusion that all things that were magnetic must have cobalt, iron, or nickel.

Who let the BOYS out?

It was a boys’ lunch today!  I learned about all the places they like to go eat and games they play. Wish the weather had been cooler, but the company was great.

Halloween Fun...

After reading the book Too Many Pumpkins, we used our pumpkin to collect all the trash from snack. We carved it open and loaded it up. Today (because of so much rain last night) we buried our pumpkin to see what will happen. We all made predictions... Nathan thinks it will rot, some kids think new pumpkins will grow, and someone even thinks it might grow new trash. We will dig it up on Earth Day! Stay tuned for more details coming April 15, 2019!
