Putting all the pieces together

I love this time of the year when all the hard work starts getting applied to even bigger and better things. Today for a math warm up, we worked with groups to piece together part of the 100's chart using what we knew about 10's and 1's. Later in the day, some students applied what they know about subtraction by breaking apart a BIG number and using place value! Makes me so proud... we are really picking up steam!

Today we were treated to a super special reader, my dad. I am so thank fil to have a dad who supports our room so much. He builds stuff for our room, moves hooks around, reads and so much more!

Addition Strategies that use place value!

Groups of 10 are easy to work with, and we are using to make adding easier! Here is a sample lesson of the first strategy we are learning!

We are back in the swing of things and already showing great things that we know. This week in math tubs, students will have a chance to teach about place value. This is an amazing way to show what they know and firm up understanding of a concept... Awesome Job Charlie!
