Welcome to the Christmas Museum!

Yesterday we shared our Christmas Museum with all the other classes. Each group researched and then wrote facts from their Non-fiction reading. Later we created exhibits that shared the information we learned. During the Holiday rotations, all of the 1st graders got to learn from our learning! I think we may have some museum curators in the making!

cold and a WHITE OUT!

What a day...Frosty sent cold weather but not a WHITE OUT (I think he got a little confused and sent it early last Friday)! We started the day with a special note from Frosty himself. Ms. Snyder delivered the cold mail! We cut snowflakes and wrote about why we are special (just like a snowflake). We made sugar cube castles and made snow. The day was topped off with a special viewing of Frosty the Snowman. So much fun!

CHOICE and VOICE!

I have learned that when you give kids choice and voice on how to show their learning - GREAT things happen. Today we wrapped up our learning about landforms. I gave students 3 choices to show what they know. They could either make a flip book, create a draw and tell or make a video(the video is still in production and will be posted later). Kids could pick to work in a pair or independently. It was the most productive morning. Kids were spread all over the room, talking about their work and producing (and doing it independently - while I pulled reading groups!). My teacher heart was BURSTING! Ask your student what they picked!
